Ron was born on the central coast of California, 50 miles,
northwest of Santa Barbara. He has been a diver for 35
years, and a fisherman from childhood. He's a licensed Captain,
and has operated boats for 30 years. Ron is
also a certified PADI dive instructor, teaching all levels of
PADI's diving adventures. Re also has a dive shop
in Lompoc, which allows him full dive gear rental program for
those out of town visitors wanting to dive the
channel islands and the central coast. Ron, also a former
commercial fisherman knows many of the spots that
produce a fishermans catch. Ron has operated the vessel "Miss
Devin" since 1992. Captain Ron has fish
stories, that at times question belief.
Named after his daughter, the vessel is 42 feet long and 14 feet
wide, she drafts 2 1/2 feet with a 8 gross ton
limit. She is powered by a caterpeller 3306, 6 cylinder diesel
engine. She has a twenty foot open back deck,
also a eight by ten foot sun deck on the bow. The boat is of New
England design, it's design and width make
it one of the most comfortable riding and safest boats in the
ocean. Electronic equipment include VHF
radio's, fishfinders commerial gradc, auto pilot, radar, cell
phone, GPS navigation and loran. Safety
equipment includes 406 EPIB Satellite Alert System, one 8 man life
boat with 5O mile SOLS Pack and 16 life preservers Coast Guard appoved,
with attached lights. The U.S. Coast Guard's Zero
Tolerance law is strictly enforced. The galley is equipped with a
two burner range, microwave, coffee maker,
large refrigerator and seating for four with additional seating
in the wheel house for six. A TV and VCR for
entertainment and training. Head facilities also on board. On
deck hot shower is also availible. Cold fish
storge box and live bait as well.
